[Action]

[After the events of the previous week, the mature thing to do would have been to would have been to take the awkward stares and deliver his humble apologies like a man. Yet after spending a week steeped in the most negative emotions he'd indulged in even the darkest of fantasies, it was easier to keep to himself.

He'd been spending quite a bit of time along the southeastern banks of the river running outside the village, staying outdoors to avoid the all-encompassing yet entirely oppressive forgiveness that awaited him at home. He would make amends and pay his dues in time, but for now, there was still the matter of coping with what was within him that the experiment had tapped to affect his actions.

The man lying faceup on the riverbank would still be visibly bruised despite sharing living space with a mage proficient in the healing arts. He'd been grateful to have been pulled from the precipice of death, yes, but wished to let the tender achy muscles, dark bruises, and angry gashes heal on their own as penance. It was in this way that he watched the sky begin to darken, chronicling the sun's slow journey towards rest.]

[Above her beauty, devotion, and talents, it was her compassion that Cecil would reference when asked why he'd fallen in love with Rosa. He couldn't help the small smile that came to him upon hearing her speak so tenderly.] You honor me with your words.

[The mention of Dark Knights sends his smile running for the hills, though.] No. At least, none of my acquaintances behaved in such a manner. I can't fully explain what came over me... I suppose I've oftentimes wondered what would have become of me if I hadn't left Baron when I did, if I'd continued to walk the path of pillaging and wrongdoing. I suppose that is the reputation of the Dark Knight. [He reached for her hands, cupping them softly.] I'm so very sorry, Rosa.

I would never betray you. Not like that. I don't think I could bring myself to do such a thing. [At his action of placing his hands over her own, she looks to them before looking at Cecil.] It wouldn't be right to just not forgive you. It was not your intention to hurt me in any way, and I know that.

[Still, it's quiet when she speaks next:] I forgive you, Cecil.

I know you wouldn't. I would never suspect you of something so foolish. [Though he hadn't earned, nor did he deserve her forgiveness, hers was the one he greedily hungered for most. He hugged her, resting his forehead upon hers.] I... [He faltered, lacking the words to express the jumble of emotions weighing upon him.] Bless you, Rosa.

[Of course he wouldn't. This Cecil, the one she knew and loved, would trust her. It made her smile a little, even! His faltering was sort of adorable.] I love you as well, Cecil. [...well, assuming that's what he was trying to say.]

[Lovely, kind, and psychic. Rosa was the best wife ever. Spared from the messiness of having to express himself verbally, he simply held her close to him and kissed her, letting his body speak the words over which he stumbled.]

[This was better than him calling her terrible names, or doing even worse things to her. It didn't take her long to put her arms around him in return, as well as return his kiss to her. Definitely better than before.]
